About Photo Resize to KB
Almost every Indian online application — UPSC, SSC, railway recruitment, university admissions, passport renewals, PAN and Aadhaar updates — asks for a photo and signature under a strict file size, often between 10 KB and 200 KB. Phone cameras produce files of 3 to 8 MB, so the portal rejects them. This tool solves that in a few seconds.
It works by drawing your photo onto a canvas and saving it as a JPEG, then searching for the highest quality that still fits under your target. If even the lowest sensible quality is too large, it reduces the pixel dimensions step by step and tries again. The result is the sharpest possible image that meets the limit, not a blurry over-compressed one.
Size presets match common requirements. The 3.5 × 4.5 cm preset produces 413 × 531 pixels, which is that print size at 300 DPI and the most requested format for Indian exam and passport photos. The signature preset produces a 3.5 × 1.5 cm strip. Presets crop from the centre, so frame your face in the middle before you start.
For best results, start from a well-lit photo with a plain light background, and crop tightly around your face and shoulders. If the form also specifies a minimum size, such as "between 20 KB and 50 KB", choose the upper limit as your target so the file lands safely inside the range.
Your photo is processed entirely inside your browser. It is never uploaded, stored or seen by anyone else, which matters when you are handling identity documents.
